Display arrangements usually depend on the function which closely related to the products, and later on, maybe depending on the aesthetics of the store. If you are an Interior designer or Visual merchandiser, you know that there are rules on how to display better.

If you have been working with Interior designers before, you’ll notice that they have been trained to manage the space to maximize the space and creating ‘wow’ effects to satisfy the client and hopefully the customers later on.

“How certain arrangements within the store might influence the flow in the store and eventually affecting the sales.”

They might miss this factor if Feng Shui is not one of the tools.

I remember one of my friends suggested me to write this topic. Her mother owned a restaurant and asked me if there’re easy ways to improve the luck of the restaurant. These articles are meant just for that purpose. So, here we go.

Increase Good Luck into your Store

To improve the good luck of the store, we need to pay attention to these factors, create the Qi flow and disperse the Qi evenly into space. We also need to condition the display to be bright and clearly labeled for easy navigation and pay attention to ergonomic.

1. Let the Qi Flow and Disperse

Some stores are designed tastefully and leave a lot of space for circulation. Built-in wall racks are installed to create a spacious feeling, bright, and premium. Unfortunately, not all owners can manage to leave a lot of space empty.

The key to creating the Qi flow is by aligning the racks to let customers (yes, customers) digest and browsing the store in an easy and relaxed manner. Avoid creating a dead-end alley that leads to nowhere, because the Qi might stuck.

2. Bright and Clear Signage

Signage should be placed strategically so that people can getting around the store easily. If your store is more on the traditional and humble side, at least the same products should be grouped together. Avoid mixing up different products in the same location since this might cause confusion and untidiness.

3. Ergonomic Factor

Some people like to stack their products really high (above the eye level) and actually, this is not a good approach to display the products. The usual reasoning that I got from them was, there have limited spaces and they want to show that they have a ‘good business’. Somehow more products to display equivalent to good business. This is of course only come from their thoughts.

If you study space planning before, you know that there is a limitation of how high you could stack the products. Something that is way too high and way too low is rarely being paid attention to. People tend to look for something that is around eye-level height.

From the Feng Shui perspective, something that is way too high will create blockages and hinder Qi from flowing smoothly. Especially if you install something really big and take a lot of space right after the entrance of your store. So, it is true that ergonomic plays an important role in the design and arrangement of the display space.

Have you ever paying attention to your entrance area and especially the main door to the retail store?

These are some of the selections of the articles that I’ve written so far and maybe it’ll spark inspiration in you. Go and check your business space now!
