This is the area that most people will forget or just simply left out when it comes to design and attention. I suppose most of the time it is true that we don’t need to have a dedicated design for this room.

Backroom in most cases are a combination between the storage room and staff’s rest area. The room usually jam-packed with stocks, utilities, and a little bit of free space. here is usually a minimal lighting too.

One thing that you should note is, all parts of your space is playing an important role to your business performance. Here’s some easy tips that you can apply to your store to improve your business:

1. Neat and Organized Well

After reading several articles in those series, you’ll notice that I focus much on getting things organized and neat. This is so simple, yet effective and that’s why people simply brush it off. Cluttered room will create a Qi stagnation which we want to avoid (at all cost). There’s nothing worse than a cluttered room filled with things.

2. Give it a Good and Bright Lighting

“Since it is not part of the retail space, we should not give any attention at all. Let’s just put a minimal effort for the backroom and just leave it there.”

That is just wrong.

Since backroom area is a functional room, that’s why we need to put effort on making the room works on its fullest potential. Let’s start by installing good lighting in the room. A bright room will help your staff looking for the right stock faster, and minimize angry customers.

3. Keep the Air Circulate Well

No one wants to stay inside a musty and stuffy room. Besides it is an unhealthy environment as well. Install an exhaust fan in your backroom area to keep the air circulated well. If there’s movement in the room, it will lessen the chance of Qi stagnation.

Here’s a little bit of extra tip for you. If you are studying Flying Stars before, you’ll notice that the backroom area will occupy one of the sector. You will need to check, which star resides in that sector.

You’ll notice that since the stars also representing different attributes, you might want to start check which star is being trapped inside the backroom.

For example, if Star 8 is trapped inside the backroom, it might cause your cash flow have problems in the first place.
